About Your Job:
Responsible for financial control of the airline including financial planning (annual budget and 5 years plan), internal control, financial evaluation of all business cases including new routes. Leading a team of Business Finance Managers/Officers to provide financial support to the business to ensure airline financial performance in line with plan is achieved.
Direct and coordinate company management reporting functions (end of month, rolling forecast and 5 Year Plan), Accountable to present an objective view of the airline’s financial situation and provide sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to achieve the business goals and objectives. Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of departments. Monitor and analyse monthly financial and operating results against budget and 5 Years Plan. Provide monthly financial report (including forecast) and weekly MIS report with decision support recommendations to keep airline on track of financial performance. Support all business case evaluation with insightful financial analysis. Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives. Serve on planning and policy-making committees. Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues. Direct internal control procedures and provide recommendations for procedural improvements. Deliver accurate, timely, complete, relevant and cost effective financial services to the business.
To be successful in this role you will need to be Bachelor Degree or Equivalent, Professional qualified accountant CA/CPA. You will have a minimum of 8 years job related working experience, Financial Controller role in an airline, Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (Oracle knowledge preferred), Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections, Knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis. Professional written and verbal English communication skills, Ability to communicate complex financial analysis to business leaders to implement Managerial skills – Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow, Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate’s skills, Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
